Dr Melissa Duncombe,

Clinical Neuropsychologist

Dr Melissa Duncombe is a Clinical Neuropsychologist who has over 20 years experience in the performance of comprehensive neuropsychological assessments of children (aged 6 upwards) and adults. She completed a Masters in Clinical Neuropsychology and a PhD from the University of Melbourne and is a Fellow of the APS College of Clinical Neuropsychologists.

She is also a Psychology Board-Approved Supervisor. Melissa has worked in a range of public and private health settings including adult neurological rehabilitation, acquired brain injury, aged services, and the Children’s Court Clinic. Currently, she works in private practice.

Melissa’s clinical experience and interest in paediatrics includes:

  • neurological disorders,
  • Neuro-rehabilitation,
  • complex medical history and genetic syndromes,
  • neurodevelopmental disorders, such as ADHD and Learning Disorders

For adult clients she has a particular skillset in:

  • Acquired Brain Injury (including traumatic brain injury and stroke),
  • Addiction, and
  • complex presentations,

Melissa also provides education and training to health professionals, doctoral students, and care-givers. In addition, she has extensive experience in the development of behavioural programs; the provision of emotion-focussed parenting strategies to help build child emotional intelligence, and the provision of evidence-based psychological therapy to assist clients in recovering from a wide range of psychological conditions (including anxiety and depression). She provides feedback and recommendations in a verbal and written form, and, where indicated, liaises with professionals in other agencies and formulates programs and delivers clinical interventions to alleviate client and care-giver concerns.
